Police Blotter Aug. 27, 2018

Newton Police Department

• Danny V. Hobbs, 41, of Newton, was charged with second-degree harassment at 10:39 p.m. Wednesday. Officers were sent to 901 S. 13th Ave. E. on a call of electricity theft. When they arrived, the victim told officers a note with a threat written on it was taped to his door. According to the police report, a note allegedly threatened to bust the victim’s fingers and “be touched by three guys with baseball bats.” The victim told the officers where the person who wrote the note might have lived. The person at the address, Hobbs, admitted to leaving a note for the victim but denied writing the threatening note when officers showed it to him. Hobbs was arrested and transported to Jasper County Jail.
