Newton Police Department
• Kristen M. Miller, 34, of Newton, was charged with interference with official acts and possession of drug paraphernalia at 11:23 p.m. Friday. Officers saw Miller on a bicycle in the 100 block of East Seventh Street South, according to reports. Officers recognized her for an active warrant as she began to ride away from the police vehicle as it turned its sirens on. Miller allegedly rode her bike into a backyard and through an alley before falling off. Miller was arrested and transported to Jasper County Jail.
• Casey J. Brandt, 35, of Newton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 1:16 a.m. Sunday. According to police reports, officers pulled Brandt over on East Seventh Street South and found a container in the defendant’s truck, which allegedly had “dabs” inside it. The defendant admitted he should have thrown it out when he cleaned out his truck, but didn’t. He was cited and released to appear in court.
