Linda Rae Sides, 72, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, at her home, surrounded by family.

Linda was born Wednesday, Sept. 12, 1945, in State Center to Delos Arnold and Wilma Marie (Dodd) Middleton.

Linda worked for Electrical Engineering and Equipment from 1973 until her move to Alaska in 1983. She later worked for UHaul from 1983-1985, Ikon Office Solutions from 1985 until 2002, and Arctic Office from 2002 until her retirement.

She belonged to Change Point Church in Anchorage and enjoyed reading, gardening and spending time in the sun and on the beach with family and friends.

Her family said, “She was loved and adored by all that had the privilege to know her. She was a loving, caring, fun spirited, beautiful and joyful, with a ginormous heart. She was petite in stature but a giant in her attributes. She loved all the adventures she had taken with her family. Above all, Linda loved her husband, daughter, family, friends and pet, Gizmo; she always put them first. She accepted her Lord and Savior, so we know we will be with her again.”

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Delos and Wilma; sister, Kim Middleton; and brother, Oren Matney.

She is survived by her loving husband, George Sides of Anchorage, AK; daughter, Kelly and husband, Scott Fischer of Anchorage, AK; sisters, Shirley and husband, George Shook and Mary Ann and husband, Clayton Newell all of Newton; brother, Lyle Matney and wife, Nancy of LeGrand; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at the family home, 258 Zappa Pl. Anchorage, AK 99504.

Donations may be given in Linda’s name to your local Animal Shelter or Cancer Society.
