School registration underway at PCM

In-person registration available July 26

The 2018-19 school year is a little more than a month away and registration for students in developmental kindergarten through 12th grade is currently underway. Online registration opened Monday with the traditional in-person registration scheduled from 2 to 7 p.m. July 26 in the Monroe Elementary School Library.

"We will have district teachers and staff on hand to assist those signing up students at registration on the 26th," PCM Board Secretary Jeana Van Voorst said.

To register your student online, go to pcmonroe.k12.ia.us/registration. Once there, a prompt to select new family registration or returning family registration will be given. After selecting the appropriate designation, all fields need to be completed accurately and thoroughly.

Paper forms can also be found on the website. To complete the forms manually, print them, fill them out and return them to PCM Community School District, Attn: Registrar, P.O. Box 610, Monroe, IA 50170.

Registration must be completed and submitted by July 27 to the district.

Additional paperwork needed from the district includes vision screens for students in grades K-3, immunization forms for students entering K, 7 and 12, dental screenings for students entering K and 9 and Healthy Kids Contracts for students entering grades 6-12. The 2018-19 Free or Reduced Lunch application is also available along with athletic forms for students in grades 7-12 participating in the extracurricular activities.

The 2018-19 fee summary includes textbooks for elementary students at $45, middle school students at $50 and high school students at $55. Milk break fees for elementary students are $25 per semester or $50 for the year and activity passes remain $35 for students and $90 for adults.

Meal prices for the district start at $1.40 per day per student for breakfast, $28 per month or $124.60 per semester. For lunch, elementary students are priced at $2.65 per day per student, $53 per month or $235.85 per semester. Middle school and high school students pay $2.75 per day per student, $55 per month or $244.75 per semester.

Following registration, a district wide open house will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27 with the first day of school scheduled for Aug. 28.

"We had a very successful school year this past year. All staff members are busy making preparation for another great school year," superintendent Brad Jermeland said. "We look forward to welcoming each and every student for the 2018-19 school year."
