Newton’s Easley named to Iowa’s 2018 Leadership Group

IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa football program has named 12 players to the 2018 Leadership Group. Head coach Kirk Ferentz announced the group Tuesday.

The group includes six seniors, five juniors, and one sophomore.

The purpose of the group is to assist in formulating policies and being involved in team decision-making throughout the year.

Players are selected by a team vote.

“This group has provided valuable leadership from the first day back after the bowl game,” said Ferentz. “The leadership of this group is a key to our success each year. Not only during the fall season, but during the remainder of the year as well. They set a great example and are a valuable resource for our younger players.”

The group consists of seniors Nick Easley, Jake Gervase, Parker Hesse, Aaron Mends, Matt Nelson and Keegan Render; juniors Amani Hooker, Amani Jones, Anthony Nelson, Brady Ross and Nate Stanley; along with sophomore Toren Young.
