Cardinal brick project in place, ready to grow

Engraved bricks are in on the backstop at Eversman Field in Woodland Park, home of the Newton High Cardinal baseball team.

When the new backstop was built for the 2017 season, space was provided for donor bricks to be engraved and mounted on the fan side of the structure. Also, each member of the Newton High Baseball Hall of Fame has a brick in the center, right, panel of the backstop. Newton High head baseball coach Dustin Brisel said there are 85 engraved bricks up, and there’s plenty of space for more Cardinal fans to purchase a brick as the funds go toward more upgrades to the Eversman Field facility.
