Playoff pairings released for Tigerhawks, Bolts

The Iowa High School Athletic Association released its high school baseball pairings for Class 1A and 2A on June 26.

And PCM and Colfax-Mingo will once again open the playoffs against each other.

The two teams squared off against each other in the opening round of the basketball tournament in February. PCM won on the hardwood. Colfax-Mingo will try to get some revenge on the diamond.

Baxter also learned its first-round opponents will be in 1A. The Bolts face perennial powerhouse Martensdale-St. Marys.

In 2A District 12, Pleasantville was voted the top seed with its 18-9 record.

West Marshall, at 15-9, is the No. 2 seed. Both Trojan programs get first-round byes.

Colfax-Mingo is currently 15-3 and has won eight straight games but was given the No. 4 seed.

The Tigerhawks will host PCM (8-10) at 7 p.m. on July 7 in Colfax. The winner of that game plays Pleasantville at 7 p.m. on July 10 in Pleasantville.

Des Moines Christian is the No. 3 seed with its 12-7 record.

The Lions face sixth-seeded East Marshall (5-14) at 5 p.m. on July 7 in Colfax. It’s the first game of a doubleheader.

The winner of that game plays West Marshall at 5 p.m. on July 10 in Pleasantville.

The district championship game will be played at 7 p.m. on July 14 in Pleasantville.

Baxter (2-16) begins its postseason run against sixth-ranked and top-seeded Martensdale-St. Marys (22-6) at 7 p.m. on July 10 in St. Marys.

Second-seeded Ankeny Christian Academy (13-5) faces seventh-seeded Colo-NESCO (8-9) at 5 p.m. on July 10 in St. Marys.

In 1A District, Lynnville-Sully (9-10) earned the No. 3 seed and opens with a home game against Montezuma (7-9) at 7 p.m. on July 10 in Sully.
