ZEARING — The Colo-NESCO baseball team kept Baxter in its late-season funk with a doubleheader home sweep of the Bolts on June 27.
The Royals defeated Baxter 13-2 in six innings in the opener and then finished the sweep with a 17-2, four-inning win in the nightcap.
Colo-NESCO (11-9 overall, 8-6 in the conference) had 13 hits, including two home runs and three doubles in the opener.
In the nightcap, the Royals had seven hits and walked eight times.
The Bolts finished with three hits in the 13-2 loss.
Senior Travis Lindemoen had one hit, one run and one steal. Freshman Andrew Klemme had one hit and one RBI, eighth-grader Rory Heer had one hit and one walk.
Junior Ian Thomson walked and scored a run and junior Derrick Klemme had an RBI.
Lindemoen took the loss after allowing 13 runs on 14 hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in five innings.
In the 17-2 loss, the Bolts had five hits. Sophomore Cole Damman and junior Andrew Esqueda both had one hit and one run, senior Bryce Bacon had one hit and one steal.
Sophomore Carter Nelsen started game two on the mound and took the loss, allowing nine earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts and five walks in 2 2/3 innings. Thomson threw one inning of relief, surrendering eight runs — four earned — on five hits with two walks.
The Bolts host AGWSR at 5 p.m. on July 5 in Baxter.
