A thankful heart

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter. But then again, it is also with a thankful heart. This will be the final message that I will write as the Director of JCCPCA. I cannot express how much I appreciate the generosity of the citizens of Jasper County for 40 years of support. It was never expected that the agency would become as visual and successful as it has. But it is our observation that now, a separate agency to address the prevention of child abuse is not as necessary. This goal should be at the heart of all that we do.

We are confident that we have made a difference in many lives and loved every minute of it. From the Sexual Abuse Prevention program, that was active in the schools for many years, to our many parenting classes and sessions, we have touched the majority of Jasper County families in one way or another. We have contracted with other agencies to provide services, provided crisis care for families and utilized foster parents and volunteers throughout our 40 years of service. Parents As Teachers, home visiting program, was the most recognized program we provided. I am excited to see what happens in the future as our mission and goals are carried out in other ways, by numerous agencies and by the community as a whole.

The agency will be dissolving in June, but the home visiting program (Parents As Teachers) remains fully intact and expanding under the direction of Marion and Jasper County Public Health Department. Please feel free to call for information, to make a referral OR to enroll in the program…call 641-787-9224 or email Melissa Gary at mgary@co.jasper.ia.us or rgarner@marionph.org (email) or 641-828-2238 ext. 223 and ask for Rachel.

Thank you so much for your service to Jasper County and the families that live here.

Sincerely,

Jackie Sparks

Director
