Reynolds, Underwood, Reed, Mitchell receive IGCA all-district golf honors

Four area high school girl golfers earned all-district honors for their 2018 seasons from the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Newton High senior Alayna Reynolds, Colfax-Mingo junior Delaney Underwood, and Prairie City-Monroe seniors Sabrina Reed and Madeline Mitchell were on the 2018 All-District team lists released recently by the IGCA.

Reynolds was named to the Class 4A District 3 team. She qualified for her second straight 4A state golf tournament as a senior by taking eighth at 4A Region 3 tournament.

At the 4A state golf tournament, Reynolds put up a 189 for the two-day, 36-hole event. She finished in a tie for 28th.

Reynolds had a nine-hole average of 50.17 for the 2018 season. She recorded a 45 for a nine-hole low round. Playing in 18-hole meets, Reynolds averaged 91.71. She had a season-low 80 for 18 holes.

Underwood, Reed and Mitchell were all named to the 2A District 4 team.

Underwood claimed the runner-up medal at the 2A Region 4 tournament to qualify for the 2A state meet. She shot a 173 for the two-day, 36-hole state tournament, capturing the 10th-place medal, and was named to the all-tournament team.

Underwood led the Tigerhawk girls with a nine-hole average score of 43.3 and an 18-hole average score of 82.33. Her season lows were 40 for nine holes and 81 for 18 holes.

Reed placed seventh at the 2A Region 4 meet to qualify for the state tournament. She finished in a tie for 18th with a two-day, 36-hole total of 191 at the 2A state meet.

Reed averaged 49.17 for nine holes this season and 91.86 for 18 holes. Her season low scores were a 45 for nine holes and an 86 for 18-holes.

Mitchell came within one stroke of qualifying for the state meet at the 2A Region 4 tournament. She had averages of 48.33 for nine holes and 92.71 for 18 holes. Her lows for the season were 47 for nine holes and 85 for 18 holes.
