Honor a commendable volunteer from your community

DES MOINES — Home is where the heart is, and some community members work whole-heartedly to improve their communities and make a positive impact.

Every neighborhood is made up of selfless volunteers dedicated to making big things happen. Each year the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation and Cookies Food Products collaborate to honor these individuals who exemplify the characteristics that all true Iowans possess. Continuing this tradition, we will acknowledge ten exceptional Iowans at this year’s Iowa State Fair.

Each Iowan of the Day winner is awarded a day of recognition at the 2018 Iowa State Fair, Aug. 9-19, including an introduction on the Anne and Bill Riley stage, $200 cash, use of a golf cart for the day, VIP parking, gate admission, hotel accommodations at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown and four tickets to the evening Grandstand concert.

Since 1997, the Iowan of Day program has become an Iowa State Fair tradition, honoring more than 200 Iowans across the state. Help spread the word and encourage people to nominate the outstanding Iowans in their neighborhoods.

Have someone come to mind that would make a great Iowan of the Day? Nomination forms can be found at www.BlueRibbonFoundation.org/IOTD or by contacting Macy Evans at 515-262-3111 Ext. 378. Nominations must be received no later than July 1.
