NHS Baseball Hall of Famers

Trent Williams, left, and Tyler Williams, right are the newest members of the Newton High School Baseball Hall of Fame. They were inducted in a ceremony prior to Saturday’s Newton Baseball Tournament at Eversman Field in Woodland Park.

They are joined by the current Cardinal coaching staff, from left, head coach Dustin Brisel, assistant coaches Ryan Comer, Derek Wrage and Ed Ergenbright.

Tyler played for the Cardinal baseball team 1999-2002 finishing with a career batting average of .335, is fourth overall in season RBIs with 41, is fifth in career home runs with 10 and tied with Trent for fourth in season doubles with 14.

Trent played for Newton 2003-2006 finishing with a career batting average of .404 and 84 career RBIs, second in career doubles with 38, had nine career wins pitching with 82 career strikeouts.

The Williams brothers each earned all-conference honors as Cardinals and went on to play at Ellsworth Community College. They are both instructors at Bdub’s Hitting Shak in Newton. They are the sons of Bob and Sue Williams of Newton.
