Jack Wayne Dickerson, born in Newton in 1934, and passed away Nov. 27, 2017, in Palm City, Fla.

Jack was the son of Theodore and Vera Dickerson. After graduating high school, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in Guam during the Korean War. Upon his discharge from the Navy in Philadelphia, Jack went to work for Kraft Foods. During his 30+ year career at Kraft he worked in the Philadelphia, New York and Chicago offices. When Jack retired from Kraft, his gift to himself was his park model mobile home at the Pearl Lake resort community in South Beloit, Ill., where he would spend six months every year, the other six months he lived nearby in Rockford, Ill. In retirement, he also worked for Menard’s and did security work for Pearl Lake.

The last couple years of his life he lived with his son and his family in Palm City, Fla. Jack loved his lake home, taking care of his lawn and flowers and being with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Debbie (George) Tettemer of Doylestown, Pa., Jeff (Betty) Dickerson of Palm City, Fla., and Stephaney (Mike) Kessler of Delavan, Wis.; and by his sisters, Phyllis (Bob) Yeutsy, Sue (Dave) Beard and Nancy Dickerson, all of Des Moines. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Alyssa, Stephen, Matthew, Amelia, Josie and Quin.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30 at First Christian Church, 314 E. Second St. N. in Newton. The family will receive visitors beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Newton Union Cemetery.
