• Eric K. Bullard, 29, of Baxter, was charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over at 7:33 p.m. Friday on West Fifth Street South. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Nicholas J. Rink, 32, of Newton, was charged with driving while barred after authorities pulled him over at 4:48 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of West Fifth Street South. He was cited and released to appear.

• Paul J. Roy, 32, of Newton, was charged with domestic abuse assault and obstruction of emergency communications after authorities were called at 7:30 p.m. Saturday to the 600 block of East Second Street South. Officers were called about a domestic assault and spoke with the victim who had a severely swollen eye. The victim said she had gone to the bar with Roy when they started arguing, and he hit her. They continued arguing until they arrived at the residence where the victim said Roy continued to hit her. The victim said he also threw a fan at her and pinned her down on the bed, choking her with his knee until she started to lose consciousness. The victim said Roy then left and took her phone. A neighbor heard the disturbance and called 911. Roy told officers he did not argue with the victim and said she injured herself. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail and a no contact order was requested by the victim.

• William E. Lane, 59, of Newton, was charged with driving while barred after authorities pulled him over for an improper turn at 11:28 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of North Sixth Avenue East. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Christopher D. Kiamas, 30, of Newton, was charged with public intoxication and interference with official acts after authorities were called at 10:22 p.m. Friday to 113 First Ave. E. Officers were called about a fight at the Manhattan. They found the bouncers having a heated discussion with Kiamas. Kiamas then began to walk away and when officers asked him to stop, he started to run. Officers caught up to him and Kiamas smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes. He said he had at least 10 beers and shots. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Stephan A. Barth, 31, of Newton, was charged with domestic abuse assault after authorities were called at 7 a.m. Saturday to the 300 block of East 14th Street North. Officers spoke with the victim who said Barth kicked in the door holding a knife because he thought another man was in the residence. When Barth did not find anyone, the victim said Barth held the knife to her throat and then his throat before he left. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail and a no contact order was requested by the victim.
