Campaign staff for Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Norris announced last week he will hold a campaign meet and greet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Okoboji Grill, 1407 W. 19th St. S., in Newton.
The event is open to the public.
Norris was former governor Tom Vilsack’s chief of staff and was appointed by President Obama to be the U.S. representative for agricultural policy at the United Nations. One of six candidates vying for the Democratic party’s nomination in the June 5 primary, Norris is a fifth-generation Iowan.
A recent Remington Research Group poll commissioned by KBUR Radio of Burlington shows Norris in fourth place in the Democratic race, trailing Des Moines businessman Fred Hubbell, state senator Nate Boulton and activist Cathy Glasson. Polling at 46 percent, Hubbell leads the field.
