• Anthony A. Hofer, 31, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County warrant for probation violation after authorities were called at 12:55 a.m. Monday to 537 Hartwig Way. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Lawrence C. Jefferson, 38, of Newton, was arrested of a Jasper County warrant for domestic abuse assault after authorities were called at 12:20 a.m. Sunday to 521 First St. S. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Larry D. Shepard, 64, of Newton, was charged with operation while under the influence after authorities were called at 11:17 p.m. Wednesday to 100 First Ave. W. Officers were called about a possible intoxicated man and found Shepard standing by his truck. He had bloodshot, watery eyes and was swaying. He said he had four drinks that night. He had a BAC of .147. He was cited and released to appear.

• Curtis D. Royce, 24, of Newton, was charged with public intoxication, possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities were called at 8:34 p.m. Friday to the 1900 block of West Fourth Street North. Officers were called about a man who appeared to be “tweeking.” Officers found Royce who said he had a drink earlier in the night and had watery eyes. He later admitted to having marijuana in his pocket along with a marijuana pipe. He was taken to the Skiff Medical Center before going to the Jasper County Jail.
