Newton Police Department

• Jacob S. Langford, 25, of Newton, was charged with speeding, driving while license under suspension and failure to provide proof of financial liability after authorities pulled him over at 5:27 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 14. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Kristen J. Cleverley, 36, of Newton, was charged with driving while license under suspension and failure to provide proof of financial liability after authorities pulled her over at 1:50 a.m. March 30 on East 21st Street South. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Michael L. Roney, 26, of Newton, was charged with operating while under the influence after authorities pulled him over at 1:56 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of East 12th Street South and South Eighth Avenue East. Officers saw a vehicle with a non-functioning license plate light and approached the vehicle. They found Roney who smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot, watery eyes. He had a BAC of .077. He was cited and released to appear.

• Emily N. Biehn, 23, of Newton, was charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities pulled her over at 12:02 a.m. Wednesday at South Fifth Avenue East. She was cited and released to appear.

• Anthony J. Garrett, 20, of Newton, was charged with two counts of possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities were called at 5:29 p.m. Saturday to 3000 N. Fourth Ave. E. Officers were called to Agnes Patterson Park about a suspicious vehicle parked by the concession stand. Officers found Garrett, who exited a vehicle that smelled of marijuana. Garrett was asked if he had anything on him, and he said no. Officers asked to search the vehicle and he said no and shut the door. Officers told him they could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle and then detained Garrett. Officers then found 13.7 grams of marijuana, .3 grams of methamphetamine, six pipes, a grinder and wax container in the vehicle. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
