PCM Trap Team takes third in JV division at Ottumwa

OTTUMWA — On a cold, rainy and windy day, the PCM Trap Team competed in not one but two trap shoot meets.

The Mustangs began April 14 competing at Ottumwa. As a first-year program, the Mustangs are considered junior varsity shooters in Iowa high school club meets.

PCM finished third out of nine junior varsity teams at Ottumwa.

The team of Paige Wood, Kolbe Wilkerson, Chase Sanders, Dawson Harney and Jerrett Swan combined to hit 195 out of 250 targets.

Harney led the way with a perfect shoot. He broke 25 straight targets on his way to a score of 47 out of 50 clay pigeons.

Harney and Wood each placed fifth in the male and female junior varsity divisions. Harney went against 49 shooters. Wood competed against 18 female shooters.

PCM went to Knoxville for a trap shoot later in the day.

“All the kids are improving greatly. I’m pleased at how we are sizing up to our competition,” PCM coach Chad Wood said. “I had all our kids increasing their scores each round they shot. I’m looking forward to our next shoot to see what they do next.”
