MidAmerican Energy reminds customers of email, text alert options for outage updates

Customers encouraged to sign up now to receive alerts

DES MOINES — With severe weather looming in the weekend forecast, MidAmerican Energy Company reminds customers they can receive real-time alerts on service impacts in their area.

At MidAmerican Energy's website, customers can log in to the "My Account" link and register to receive text alerts or email messages about an outage, when crews are projected to work in the area impacted by the storm and ultimately when service is restored.

“The time to prepare for a power outage is before it happens,” Michael Gehringer, vice president of customer operations for MidAmerican Energy, said. “Whether it’s a thunderstorm, tornado or a blizzard that affects your power, MidAmerican Energy will work quickly and safely to restore it.”

If you are a MidAmerican Energy customer and your power goes out, notify the company as soon as possible to help crews pinpoint impacted areas and restore service more quickly. Customers can report the outage onlineor call 800-799-4443.

Account information available 24/7 online, from desktops, tablets and smartphones

MidAmerican Energy wants to make it easy to connect with the company. My Account, where customers sign up for outage alerts, is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to signing up for notifications, customers can track information on their energy use, pay bills and view payment history, among other activities. Customers can easily create a My Account online by entering basic information, such as an account number.
