The City of Prairie City is offering residential curbside clean-up Saturday. Materials must be placed neatly at the curb in front of the property before 7 a.m. the day of pick-up and not more than 24 hours in advance. Waste Management will be making one trip through town and will not be back to pick up items placed on the curb after that time.
Any items not picked up must be removed from the curb within 24 hours of this event to avoid a citation.
The following items are not allowed and will not be picked up include construction debris (including drywall, lathes, boards, etc.), rolls of carpet, oil, paint (empty, dry cans are allowed), appliances, televisions, computers, air conditioners, yard waste, tires/rims, car batteries, regular household garbage, metal, car or bicycle parts, eaves spouts or hazardous waste.
The city offers curbside pick-up of appliances, televisions and computers year round with the purchase of stickers at city hall.
Residents in the city limits may take car batteries, corrosives, flammables, toxic material, reactive materials, paints and oil products to the Regional Collection Center in Bondurant. Call at 515-967-5512 for information. The collection center is open year round.
