DoLores Wastier

March 25, 2018

DoLores Wastier, 91, of Baxter, died quietly Sunday, March 25, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was a precious gift from God and now rests in His loving arms. DoLores loved and was devoted to her family. She faithfully served God and the Baxter community. When she looks down from heaven, she will be amazed to see the number of lives she touched. She leaves a hole in our hearts that will never be filled.

DoLores was born July 13, 1926, the daughter of John and Ruby Stinson. She was raised and educated in Baxter, where she graduated from the Baxter High School. On Aug. 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to the love of her life and best friend, Dale Wastier. They were married at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ. Following their marriage, they made their home in Baxter, where they owned and operated the Baxter Mercantile for 23 years. Dale and DoLores were strong advocates for the Baxter community.

Carrying on DoLores’ legacy of love are daughters, Connie (Daryld) Karloff of Pleasant Hill, Cathie (Joel) Colwell of Ankeny; her grandchildren, Tricia England, Tron (Danelle) England, Christina Conway, Ryan Karloff and Russell Karloff; her great-grandchildren, Jordan and Carly England and Gage Trusty; and her sister, Jeanne Pollard; as well as many nieces, nephews and cherished friends. DoLores was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruby Stinson; husband Dale; sisters, Marie and Margie; and special friend, Bud Allan.

A funeral service to celebrate DoLores’ life was Saturday, March 31 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter, with burial in the Restland Cemetery in Baxter. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ or the Baxter Community Wellness Center.

Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Baxter has been entrusted with the care of DoLores and family.
