Newton Police Department

• James R. Plumb, 30, of Grinnell, was charged with operating while under the influence after authorities pulled him over at 1:18 a.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of South Fifth Avenue East. Upon contacting Plumb, officers could smell alcohol coming from him. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Brayden Boock, 23, of Baxter, was arrested on a Jasper County warrant for probation violation after authorities were called at 8:42 p.m. Wednesday to 726 First Ave. E. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Kenneth E. Chance, 18, of Newton, was charged with trespassing after authorities were called at 9:12 p.m. March 5 to 1501 First Ave. E. Officers were called about a shoplifting incident and spoke to the manager who said Chance had concealed a bottle and left the store with it. The manager said Chance was trespassing and had previously met with the store director about the trespass order. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
