Newton YMCA Penguins Swim Team heads to postseason

Members of the Newton YMCA Penguins Swim Team are headed into their postseason starting this weekend. Swimmers had to qualify for the four postseason events. They begin with the Iowa YMCA state swim meet Saturday and Sunday in Marshalltown — the male swimmers compete on Saturday and female swimmers on Sunday. On March 10 is the Greater Iowa Swim League (GISL) state meet, which is a non-YMCA meet, in Grinnell. The YMCA Regional swim meet is March 17-18 in Des Moines at the new Wellmark YMCA then the Midwest Regional swim meet, on April 7-8, in Minneaplois, Minn., in which teams may consist of both YMCA and non-YMCA teams.
