Anita L. McGovern

Feb. 25, 2018

Anita Louise McGovern, 54, of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018, surrounded by her entire family.

She was born in Erie, Pa., May 20, 1963, to Ronald Corbett and Mary Corbett.
She graduated from Newton High School in Newton in 1981, where she met her beloved husband of 36 years, Hugh McGovern.

She spent more than 20 years working at Xerox in Texas, where she built life-long friendships with her co-workers.

Anita’s passion was her time with her family and friends. She loved weekends swimming with her grandsons. Her pool parties brought all her family and friends together. She was active and loved spending time on her motorcycle with her husband riding with close friends. Even through her long battle, she always put other people first, which included taking care packages to the homeless on her trips to Houston and downtown Dallas during her treatment.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart, Hugh McGovern; daughters, Sara McGovern Johnson and Nicole McGovern; sons, Joey McGovern and his fiancé Lindsay Apke, and Josh McGovern and his wife, Allie McGovern; brother, Ron Corbett; sisters, Denise Hayden and Angie Condon; sister-in-law, Melissa McGovern Prill and husband, Fred Prill and niece Livi Prill; and brother-in-law, PJ McGovern. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Corbett; her father, Ronald Corbett and his wife, Cindy Corbett; and mother-in-law, Mary McGovern. She also leaves four grandsons, Aiden, Aaron, Adam and Ethan and soon to be her namesake granddaughter, Mia Louise McGovern who will be here in June. She also leaves numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death recently by her father-in-law, Patrick J. McGovern.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 5 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Grapevine, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for any donations to St. Francis Outreach or Giving Hope, Inc. to provide support services to the homeless.
