Jasper County Tribune takes second in INA General Excellence

PC News awarded Iowa Newspaper Association top prize

DES MOINES — The Iowa Newspaper Association honored the Jasper County Tribune with a second place General Excellence Award Friday at the association’s annual awards banquet during the INA 2018 Convention and Trade Show held at the Des Moines Marriott Hotel.

The Prairie City News, sister paper to the JCT, was awarded first place in general excellence for newspapers in its circulation size. Parent paper Newton Daily News was also named winners in various categories of the 2018 Iowa Better Newspaper Contests.

ABOUT US: The Newton Daily News publishes five days a week and its weekly publications include the Prairie City News and Jasper County Tribune. All three newspapers, along with the Monroe Legacy, which we acquired in July, are part of Illinois-based Shaw Media.

ENTRY CLASS DIVISIONS: Prairie City News and Jasper County News belong to Weekly Class 1 for newspapers with 1,001 circulations and under. Newton Daily News belongs to Daily Class 1 for newspapers circulation under 10,000.

WHO JUDGES? The 2018 Iowa Better Newspaper Contests were judged by members of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association.
