Knights of Columbus spelling bee winners

The Knights of Columbus held its annual spelling bee competition recently in Newton. First and second place winners will move to a regional spelling bee in Pella on Feb.18.

Fourth grade winners were Maggie Carter, first place; Lauren Clarke, second place and Tyler Thompson, third place.

Placing in the fifth grade division were Kolbee Cupples, first place; Zoey Henry, second place and Sheigh Lynn Cooper in third place.

In the sixth grade competition, Austin Storm placed first, Madelyn Adkinson earned second place and Ben Breuer placed third.

In the seventh grade competition, Leo Friedman won first place and Owen Muhs placed second.
