• Samuel G. DeWayne Martin, 43, of Newton, was arrested at 8:54 p.m. Jan. 29 at 308 E. Eighth St. N. on a Jasper County warrant for failure to appear on a DWLS charge. Martin was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Kristopher R. Hervey, 34, of Des Moines, was charged with interference with official acts at 6:45 p.m. Jan. 29 after police were called to Mid Iowa Motel in reference to an unwanted person. Police escorted Hervey to his room to collect his things. He was intoxicated and he told police he smoked marijuana and had been drinking. When they walked out of the room, Hervey turned back in and locked the door and wouldn’t open it. The officer got a key from the front desk and opened the door. Hervey was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Scot A. Stewart, 19, of Newton, was charged with interference with official acts at 11:10 a.m. Jan. 29 after police went to 902 N. 10th Ave. E. to look for a person with a warrant out of Poweshiek County. Stewart had a charge of burglary. Officers located him in the garage and informed him of his warrant. Stewart put on his shoes and ran out of the door, and after a short foot chase he was apprehended. He was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
