Newton library to host book signing event

Book Signing

6:30 p.m. Monday — Local author, Susan Cupples-Munger shares her new children’s book, “The Fairies of Glendaren Hill.” Copies of the book will be available for purchase and there will be refreshments and a craft for children in attendance.

Home Organization with Jaime Price

6 p.m. Jan. 22 — Want to de-clutter but don’t know where to begin? Join professional organizer and author of the “Organized Housewife” blog, Jaime Price, to learn how to get (and keep) your home organized. Special emphasis will be placed on planning a de-cluttering project and tackling paper clutter, books, and family records. This program is free and open to the public. Preserving Your Past:
Archiving at Home

6 p.m. Jan. 29 — Learn how to store and preserve those family treasures. Our Public Services Librarian shares tools and tips for keeping photographs and documents safe and provides an introduction to digitizing your personal archive at home. Call 641-792-4108 to register.

Make Your Own Slime

6 p.m. Jan. 30 — Children are invited to make their own slime in this fun crafting program. Kids under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. The program will be held in the Library meeting room. Registration is required to attend. Please contact the library at 641-792-4108 to reserve your spot.

New App for Downloading eBooks

We’re introducing a new way to download library ebooks and audiobooks. This new app offers a simpler way to download and read digital materials. Android and Apple users may download the free Libby by Overdrive app in the iTunes or Google Play stores for quicker, easier downloading. To learn more or receive additional help with your device, please call the library to make an appointment with Becca Klein, 641-792-4108.

Blues Under the Blue Roof

Monday Evenings in February, 6:30 p.m. — Join the South Skunk Blues Society at the Newton Public Library every Monday night in February for a live musical performance. Performances begin at 6:30 p.m. and are free to attend. This concert series is made possible by the South Skunk Blues Society, Newton Arts Connection and the Newton Public Library Foundation. All ages welcome.

Yoga at the Library

6 p.m. Feb. 13 — Certified yoga instructor, Meghan Davis, leads an introductory class for adults. No previous experience necessary. Attendees may bring a yoga mat or towel, if they wish. This event is sponsored by the Newton YMCA. Spaces are limited and registration is required to attend. Please call the library at 641-792-4108 to reserve your spot.
