During the month of November, the newly re-opened McDonald’s on First Avenue East partnered with the Newton High School Band to raise money for the band as they promoted their new kiosk and mobile app ordering systems. Owner Cara Van Steenis donated $1 to the band program for each time that a customer used the kiosk or the mobile app to order. Director Jim Beerends said, “This was a great opportunity for the band to partner with McDonald’s and generate excitement over their new technology. We are really fortunate and thankful to Cara for this opportunity. The money raised will go toward the purchase of new band uniforms.” Pictured is Steenis presenting a check in the amount of $1,000 to director Beerends.
