• Randi L. Hamilton, 36, of Newton, was arrested at 3:35 p.m. Monday on a Jasper County warrant for probation violation, original charge — operation without owner’s consent, and another Jasper County warrant for probation violation — original charge two counts of forgery. Hamilton was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Lauren A. Neal, 33, of Prairie City, was arrested at 12:27 a.m. Tuesday on a Jasper County warrant for a DWLS charge. Neal was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Joseph L. Richards, 30, of Newton, was charged with operating while under the influence at 8:54 a.m. Dec. 17 when police were called to 200 E. Fourth St. S. in reference to a man sleeping with the vehicle running. Richards was sleeping in the driver’s seat with the vehicle running and in drive. Police had to wake Richards up and put the car in park. He told police he had drank three beers, he had slurred speech and was unable to walk steady. Richards was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Donald Averett, 57, of Newton, was charged with domestic abuse assault, impeding flow of air, at 12:30 a.m. Dec. 17 after Averett and the victim got into a verbal argument that turned into a physical altercation. Averett is accused of punching the victim in the face and body multiple times. The victim requested a no-contact order. He was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
