Newton City Councilman Jeremy Biondi announced his resignation on Monday as the Ward 1 representative. Biondi served in the position for two years after being elected in 2015.

Biondi said he wants to focus on family, faith and business.

“I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve,” Biondi said. “It has been a struggle to balance these duties and maintain my responsibilities as your councilman. I have enjoyed my time serving on the city council and look forward to helping the community that has supported Moo’s in the past three and a half years.”

The now open seat will be filled by city council at a future meeting.

“The city appreciates Jeremy Biondi’s service,” mayor Mike Hansen said. “He served well and takes with him the best wishes from his fellow city council members and city staff.”

For more information about the open seat, contact Hansen or city clerk Katrina Davis.
