Jasper Community Foundation Grant applications available through March 31

The Jasper Community Foundation is requesting grant proposals for 2018. The Foundation recently received its award allocation to facilitate endowment building and grant making throughout Jasper County.

The contribution to the Foundation was made possible by the Iowa General Assembly. In 2004, the Iowa legislature passed bills to encourage foundation building and community-based philanthropy. Among these measures was H.F. 2032 which provided that non-gambling counties, initiating a county-wide community foundation would be eligible to receive eighth tenths of one percent of the state’s gross gambling tax receipts. In 2017, the Jasper Community Foundation disbursed $91,000 to 19 different non-profit organizations throughout the county. These funds were awarded to charitable organizations for educational, civic and public purposes in Jasper County. A full listing of grantees can be found on the Foundation’s website.

The Jasper Community Foundation's 2018 Grant Making Cycle is quickly approaching. Grant applications will be available through March 31 via the Foundation's website at jaspercommunityfoundation.org. Grant applications to be considered for funding this year must be received by March 31. All 501(c)3 organizations, 170(c)(1) units of government, and other potentially qualifying charitable organizations operating in or for the benefit of Jasper County should go to the Jasper Community Foundation website for guidelines, applications and additional information. This will be the only grant cycle of 2018.

“I encourage qualifying organizations to consider submitting a grant application,” Dan Skokan, president of Jasper Community Foundation said. “The more diverse group of applicants we receive, the better chance there is that these funds will reach more programs in Jasper County, to benefit a greater number of residents. These grant funds provide an excellent opportunity to address important needs in our communities and to improve the overall quality of life for our residents.”

All inquiries pertaining to the grant application process should be directed to the “Contact Us” link located on the homepage of the Jasper Community Foundation website.
