Newton Police Department
• Louis N. Ramirez, 25, of Newton, is charged with domestic abuse assault after authorities were called at 2:11 a.m. Sunday to the 700 block of South Second Avenue. Officers were called on a domestic assault and spoke with the victim who said Ramirez had cut the inside of her mouth when he “fish hooked” her. She also had a bite mark on her stomach she said was from Ramirez. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• William W. Farr, 24, of Newton, was arrested on two Jasper County warrants for failure to appear and while under arrest was charged with possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities were called at 1:40 a.m. Sunday to 211 S. Hampton Court. Officers were responding to a theft when they found Farr. While being arrested, officers found he had a bong and a bag of methamphetamine inside his pocket weighing 1 gram. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Shawn N. Stevens, 37, of Newton, was arrested on a Jasper County warrant after authorities were called at 1:40 p.m. Monday to the adult probation office. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
