Kids, get your Christmas lists ready because Santa is coming to the Newton Arboretum Saturday for Breakfast with Santa. The fourth annual event is a collaborative effort by local nonprofit organizations to raise money for Newton parks.
Breakfast will be from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Newton Arboretum, 3000 N. Fourth Ave. E. and will include all-you-can-eat pancakes, along with eggs and sausage for $5 per person. Santa will arrive at 9 a.m. to visit with the children.
“This is event is organized by Friends of Newton Parks and Newton Arboretum,” Project AWAKE President Sveta Miller said. “We’ve always seemed to have a full house because who doesn’t like pancakes and Santa?”
Along with breakfast, holiday-themed activities, including crafts and decorating Christmas cookies, kids will be able to take part in and have some holiday cheer to take home.
The funds raised at the breakfast will be reinvested into Newton’s parks. Past projects include the ice skating rink at Maytag Park and tree planting projects at parks across the community.
“Breakfast with Santa is a very popular event and it has grown each year,” chair of Friends of Newton Parks Jessica Lowe said. “The success of the event has allowed the Friends of Newton Parks to invest in the city’s parks. The partnership with the Newton Arboretum is fantastic because children and families can enjoy crafts and activities after eating a delicious breakfast.”
