• Michael T. Crowe, 24, of Newton, was charged with fourth-degree theft at 3:52 p.m. after police were called to Love’s Travel Shop in reference to an employee theft. Crowe, an employee, was loading points onto a rewards card he obtained and he wasn’t supposed to have. The card was taking points off of receipts that had been discarded by customers. He loaded 23,047 points on the card between Feb. 18 and Feb. 21. He used the points to purchase items in the store. Employees witnessed Crowe loading points and video also showed him loading points. Crowe was released and issued a citation to appear in court.
• Tychika B. Walker, 29, and Michael E. Anderson, 30, both of Grinnell, were charged with contempt, violation of no contact order at 8:15 p.m. Nov. 28. Anderson was charged with operating while under the influence and driving while licenses suspended. Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Union Drive and North Nineth Avenue West because Anderson’s license is suspended. Anderson and Walker had a valid no contact order in effect from Poweshiek County. They were arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail. While Anderson was transported to jail, the officer smelled alcohol and his eyes were bloodshot and watery. Anderson failed a field sobriety test and he refused other sobriety testing. He admitted to taking a percocet, drinking two beers and a shot of liquor before driving.
