UWJC to help Santa deliver mail for Christmas

The United Way of Jasper County is putting a little magic back into the holidays with Letters from Santa Claus fundraiser.

Jessica Lowe, UWJC executive director, said anyone is welcome to send a letter from Santa Claus. The letters will come postmarked from the North Pole (Alaska) and addressed and personalized to each child. The cost is just $5 per letter, and the proceeds support the United Way.

“I love the holidays and remember writing letters to Santa, so this is just an extension of that,” Lowe said. “I think it will be a really special memory for children when they get a real letter in the mail from Santa.”

Those wishing to register can do so by picking up a form at the UWJC office, 312 First Ave. W., or by downloading the form at https://uwjcsantaletters.weebly.com. Forms should be filled out and returned to the UWJC with a minimum $5 donation no later than Dec. 1.

“The Santa Letters fundraiser is an opportunity for anyone who wants to spread a little Christmas cheer,” Lowe said. “It is meant to brighten the holidays for children but we are all kids at heart this time of year so I hope people will just use it as an opportunity to share joy and the magic of the season with the special people in their life.”
