Man gets 45-year sentence for two stabbings

CEDAR FALLS — A Cedar Falls man accused of stabbing two people has taken a plea deal. Court records say 30-year-old Adam Jacobsen pleaded guilty Monday to burglary and two counts of willful injury. Prosecutors said they’d drop two counts of attempted murder in exchange for Jacobsen’s pleas. The records don’t list a sentencing date. The case was delayed in November while Jacobsen underwent a psychological evaluation, which ultimately found he was competent for trial.

Police say Jacobsen stabbed a man 24 times and a woman eight times outside the University Studios apartments in Cedar Falls on Oct. 17 last year. The woman’s boyfriend drew a pistol when he arrived at the scene and detained Jacobsen until police arrived.
