Red Kettle Campaign commences in Jasper County

Salvation Army aims to raise $33K

As community members look for ways to give back this holiday season, The Salvation Army is a great place to start. Ringing bells outside of local grocery stores is a small task that makes a huge difference in the lives of others.

The Red Kettle Campaign is set for Nov. 18 through Dec. 23. The Jasper County Salvation Army has a goal of $33,000 for the kettles alone.

Last year, the kettle campaign and its volunteers raised almost $35,000 — nearly reaching The Salvation Army’s goal. The campaign helped reach more than 600 families in Jasper County.

Bell ringers are encouraged to dress warmly and greet people with a friendly smile.

“The kettles will be located at six locations and will run from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.,” Capt. Janelle Cleaveland said. “If you have someone at a kettle, you are most likely to raise more money and it’s up to you how much you interact with people passing by.”

The Salvation Army is also continuing its Angel Tree program, where you can ensure children will have gifts under their tree this year.
