Derik Nelson and Family to perform in Newton

Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Derik Nelson and Family’s signature sound features velvety three-part vocal harmonies only a family can deliver. Siblings Derik, Riana and Dalten have been performing together since childhood. They’ve garnered more than 3 million views on YouTube, and toured more than 40 locations across the West Coast to raise money for music education. Derik has appeared regularly as the lead guitarist on TV’s “Glee” among other shows.

The Nelson’s are bringing their spectacular concert to Newton at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Center for Performance at Newton High School, sponsored by the Jasper County Concert Association.

They deliver a concert experience like no other, featuring pristine sound, a state of the art light show and an integrated 20-foot video display. This innovative technical marvel uses the latest in audio-video technology to take audiences on an aural and visual journey through time, space, an impressive array of landscapes, weather conditions and musical “settings.”

Derik — singer, songwriter, producer, audio engineer. His singing voice has been heard on numerous TV shows including “The Voice,” and “How I Met Your Mother.” First place winner in the lndie International Songwriting competition for his original song, “The Way It’s Gonna Go.” Graduate of the University of Southern California.

Riana — vocalist, press, management. Musical Theatre degree from the University of Michigan. Lead vocalist for Princess Cruises. Managed summer program for Disney in China, teaching children 5-7 years old. On screen vocalist for Renee Zellweger’s pilot “Cinnamon Girl.”

Dalten — vocalist, video/light/tech designer. Attended Arizona State University with an extensive musical theatre background. Conceptualized, designed, filmed, edited and executed more than 150 separate videos to create visual “immersion” to the musical experience.
