Extension will brief farmers on changes to dicamba herbicide use with dicamba tolerant soybean

Local farmers and Ag professionals have the opportunity to hear the latest information on changes regarding the use of the new formulations of dicamba herbicide at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 5 at the ISU Extension and Outreach office in Jasper County, 550 N. Second Ave. W. in Newton.

The EPA recently announced changes to the new dicamba labels in response to widespread off-target plant injury in 2017. Iowa State University Extension Field Agronomist Mark Johnson, will provide the most up-to-date information on the labels, pros and cons of using these new formulations, and address possible future challenges.

“The primary purposes are to have a good discussion and get questions answered regarding the fine points of the new labels. I’ll also be giving tips on how to avoid off target injury. In addition, I’ll share ISU’s position on the use of these new formulations on soybean in Iowa”.

The event is free and open to the public, no pre-registration is required. Coffee and donuts will be provided.
