Young Professionals introduce Light Fight

Sign-up deadline is Nov. 17

On Nov. 24, the Young Professionals of Jasper County will host Jasper County Light Fight, a holiday lights display competition that will see businesses/organizations and residents compete for the title of cheeriest display.

There will be two competition brackets: Business/Organization and Residential. Each bracket will compete amongst itself for fabulous prizes, including cash, charity donations, and Chamber of Commerce memberships.

The Light Fight will begin after the annual Courthouse Lighting and Parade and continue through Dec. 6. We ask that lights and displays be on from at least 6 to 10 p.m., and visible from the street, in order to show your displays off to the greatest number of people.

Beginning Nov. 24, community members will also be able to join in on the fun by going to the Young Professionals of Jasper County Facebook page to access the Jasper County Light Fight map and vote for their favorite light display.

There is no fee to enter, and no dollar limit to displays. We only ask that your displays be visible from the street, family friendly and neighborly. Please avoid blinding your neighbors with floodlights or deafening them with high volume renditions of “Jingle Bell Rock.”

If you wish to participate in this fun event, all you need to do to register is complete our Jasper County Light Fight registration form (the Residential form for home displays, and the Business/Organization form for Commercial displays)by Nov. 17, send us a photo of your light display and have your lights on beginning November 24.
