Newton Police Department

• Christopher L. Cleveland, 35, of Newton, was charged with domestic abuse assault, display or use weapon and public intoxication at 10:07 p.m. Oct. 25 after police were called to a residence on South Third Avenue East in reference to an unwanted person and a possible domestic fight. The victim told police Cleveland pushed her and then pulled out a baseball bat. Cleveland fled when police were called and was later found walking in the 2300 block of South Third Avenue East. Cleveland smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and couldn’t walk a straight line. Cleveland was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Tiara C. Ingram, 28, of Newton, was charged with driving while license denied or revoked at 7:14 p.m. Oct. 29 after police pulled over Ingram for having an inoperable brake light in the 200 block of First Avenue East. Ingram was driving with a revoked license. Ingram was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Elijah J. Loshaw, 21, of Newton, was charged with operating while under the influence first offense, controlled substance violation and possession of drug paraphernalia at 1:47 a.m. Oct. 29. A driver failed to stop at the intersection of East Seventh Street North and North Eighth Avenue East and almost hit a squad car. Loshaw was identified as the driver and he smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot, watery eyes and inside the vehicle was a 6-pack of Budweiser with two missing cans and one open on the driver’s side floor. Loshaw failed a field sobriety test. Police found a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana in Loshaw’s pocket as well as bag containing Xanex. Loshaw was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
