Rock 4 Vets Rockin’ Across Iowa

Iowa Rock n’ Roll Music Association is rockin’ out across the state this Veterans Day and partnering with Spirit Lake VFW and Brushy Creek Honor Flight to produce Rock 4 Vets Nov. 11 at the VFW Memorial Hall in Spirit Lake.

Sponsored by MHR Insurance, Northwest Bank, Screenscape Studios, Lakes News Shopper, Central Bank, Steamway Incorporated, and Bank Midwest, Rock 4 Vets will honor all military past and present with music from Starfire and special appearances by Spirit Lake VFW’s Color Guard and Lexy Duffy.

Listening to live music has a universal positive impact on well-being and has been successfully used as therapy for years because it makes people happier, has an analgesic effect, and helps people feel connected — all of which are vital for mental health and longevity.

“This event is near and dear to my heart as my husband is a veteran,” said Iowa Rock n’ Roll Music Association’s Executive Director Cindy Stanbro.

“Brushy Creek Honor Flight is going to be at the event to share information about what they do and a portion of the proceeds will go to them. Shirley and the VFW have been amazing to work with. They will have maid rites, baked beans and chips available at the event for a freewill donation and all veterans and military eat free.”

Tickets for Rock 4 Vets are $10 at the door and all military and veterans get in free.

Rock 4 Vets holds events across the state with concerts at Camp Dodge in Johnston on Nov. 9 and the Diamond Joe Casino in Dubuque on Nov. 12.
