Craig Robert Hoskins, 63, of Newton, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 30 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends after the service with a coffee time at the funeral home. Memorials to the American Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.

Craig, the son of Robert “Bob” and Helen “Louise” (Bonnett) Hoskins, was born Oct. 22, 1954, in Chariton. He grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1974. On July 9, 1977, Craig was united in marriage with Kim Gregory at the First Baptist Church in Newton. Craig worked at Rock Communications for 41 years as a printing press operator, retiring in October of 2016. Craig was a member of the NRA and the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. He enjoyed riding his Harley, doing projects around the house, gardening and watching TV with his little dog, Gabby. Craig also loved deer hunting with his sons on his sister, Linda’s farm.

Those left to honor Craig’s memory are his wife, Kim Hoskins of Newton; two sons, Lance (Allison) Hoskins of Johnston and Lucas (Nicole) Hoskins of Shepherdsville, Ky.; six grandchildren, Drew, Grant, Hazel, Tate, Shyanne and Payton; his sisters, Linda (Jerry) Jansen of Kellogg and Lisa (Tony) Mall of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Chris Hoskins; and a brother in infancy.
