• Michael T. Todd, 26, of Newton, was charged with driving while barred at 7:48 p.m. Oct. 16 after police pulled him over in a gray Ford Windstar van in the 100 block of East Fourth Street South pulling into Yes Way gas station. The officer knew Todd to be barred and having several citations for driving while license barred. He was released and issued a citation to appear in court.

• Austin B. Shepard, 20, of Newton, was charged with carrying weapons at 7 a.m. Wednesday after police located Shepard for an active warrant for probation violation in the 100 block of East Fourth Street North. During arrest, the officer found a pair of brass knuckles in Shepard’s sweatshirt pocket. Shepard was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Kirk R. Williams, 30, of Newton, was charged with driving while barred at 5:42 p.m. Wednesday after police pulled over a vehicle without a front license plate at 500 E. Fourth St. N. The man pulled into an alley and parked in a residential driveway. The homeowners told police they didn’t know the occupants of the vehicle. Williams told police they didn’t know the homeowners and pulled over to try to evade officers. His license is barred. Williams was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail.
