Wilson reaches milestone in Tigerhawks’ season-ending loss to Pella Christian

PELLA — Colfax-Mingo senior Ries Wilson reached another milestone Tuesday, but the Tigerhawk volleyball team had its season ended by Pella Christian during a Class 2A Region 5 opener.

Wilson surpassed 1,000 career digs against the Eagles, but Pella Christian advanced with a 25-8, 25-13, 25-14 home win.

Colfax-Mingo ends its season at 11-18. Pella Christian (19-15) advanced to Monday’s regional quarterfinal game against Van Meter.

Wilson finished with a team-high seven kills and 13 digs. She finished the season with 388 kills and a career-best 305 digs. Her career ended with 1,250 kills and 1,002 digs.

Senior setter Megan Earles tallied 11 assists and seven digs in the loss. She finished with 527 assists and a career-best 202 digs in 2017 and ended her career with 1,736 assists and 620 digs.

Freshman Chelsey Temple had three kills for the Tigerhawks.

Junior Mac Brown had 11 digs, junior Chelsea Russell tallied seven digs and Earles had the team’s only ace.

Pella Christian got 13 kills each from Morgan Fopma and Bekah Horstman. The Eagles had a .398 hitting efficiency.
