Judith Ann Anderson, 82, of Newton, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church may be left at the funeral home.

Judy, the daughter of Wesley and Elsie (Brodersen) Barnett, was born Oct. 17, 1934, in Newton. She attended rural Jasper County schools and graduated from Newton High School in 1953. Judy worked in the accounting department at Newton Manufacturing for many years. She also was a waitress at the Newton Country Club. Judy was a talented quilter and enjoyed making quilts for others. She was an active member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Thursday Quilting Group at the Salvation Army. Judy was a Red Cross volunteer and had volunteered in New York City after 9-11. She had also served on mission trips to El Salvador and Tanzania. Judy enjoyed crafting and painting.

Judy is survived by her grandchildren, Joe Kintz, Tina (Richard) Berryman, Kari (Jed) Kinion, Misty Whittley, Ashley (Josh) Warnell, Richard Anderson, Justin (Mega) Anderson, Robert (Tanya) Anderson, Brandi Wince and Kasie (Kenny) Lamb; many great-grandchildren; her sister, Janet (Chuck) Eilers of Creston; and her nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl R. Anderson; sons, Mark and Dean Anderson; and daughter, Terry Anderson.
