The Capitol II Theatre in Newton is hosting its annual Halloween food pantry and animal rescue league drive.

The theatre will host a free showing of “The Ring” at 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The movie may be free, but the theatre asks movie goers to bring a donation for the Newton Salvation Army and the Jasper County Animal Rescue League.

Items suggested for The Salvation Army include macaroni and cheese, pasta/pasta sauce, tuna or canned chicken, cereal or instant oatmeal and peanut butter. Items that are outdated or dented are not accepted.

Items suggested for JCARL include cat and dog food, cat litter, rawhides, paper towels, bleach, air freshers, dog and cat toys, 13 and 42 gallon trash bags.

Monetary donation will also be accepted.

This year the movie will be shown in both theaters — kids without parents will be in one theater and adults in the other.
