PCM volleyball ends regular season at Fairfield tournament

FAIRFIELD — The Prairie City-Monroe volleyball team will take 10 wins into the Class 3A postseason.

The Mustangs won their 10th match of the season Saturday during the Fairfield tournament. PCM swept Centerville between straight-set losses to Davis County and Fairfield.

In a battle of Mustangs, Davis County (15-22) defeated PCM 25-20, 25-13. Senior Regan Olson had three kills for PCM (10-19). Senior Madison Foster chipped in four assists, two aces and three digs, senior Olivia Lippman tallied five digs and senior Kenzie Johnson contributed four digs.

PCM defeated Centerville (6-17) 25-20, 25-12. The Mustangs finished with 16 kills, four of which came from both Olson and freshman Celeste Wagaman. Junior Sloan Hjortshoj and Johnson each had three kills.

Foster chipped in 13 assists and was 10-of-10 in serves, Lippman tallied five digs and Hjortshoj was 12-of-12 in serves with six aces.

Host Fairfield (22-8) defeated PCM 25-14, 25-9. The Mustangs had six kills in the loss — two each from Wagaman, Olson and Hjortshoj. Foster collected three assists and Johnson and Lippman both had five digs.

The Mustangs begin 3A Region 6 play against West Marshall (27-10) at 7 p.m. Wednesday in State Center.
