Edith Blanche McKenzie, 102, of Stanton, formerly Red Oak, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at Accura Healthcare in Stanton.

Edith was born Jan. 14, 1915, in Kellogg, the daughter of John and Albertine (Winslow) Young. She graduated from Newton High School in 1936, and was united in marriage to John McKenzie that same year. They lived in Grant from 1951-1956; Camanche from 1956-1984; Newton from 1984-2004, moving to Red Oak where Edith lived until moving to the Stanton Care Center five years ago. Over the years, Edith worked for AC Nielson Company and was involved in many women’s clubs and volunteer organizations for more than 20 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, John McKenzie Dec. 14, 2004; son, Jerry McKenzie; daughter-in-law, Shirlene Crabtree; granddaughter, LaDonna Focht; and brothers, Donald and Willard Young. Survivors include her granddaughter, Deb Liebig and husband Mike of Gretna, Neb.; grandson-in-law, Mark Focht and wife Michelle of Villisca; great-grandchildren, Andrew Focht and wife Karla of Villisca, Aaron Focht and wife Rachelle of Villisca, Lindsay Sunderman of Omaha, Neb., Ryan Focht of Villisca, Shelby Sunderman of Omaha, Neb., Amanda Focht of Villisca and Cassady Sunderman of Omaha, Neb.; great-great-grandchildren, Lilly, Payton, Beckem and Lynden; and many other relatives and friends.

A graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Grant Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Eric Kutzli officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
